Beneath the sleek first-generation bodywork (J1 platform, 2020) sit two permanent-magnet synchronous motors, one at each axle. In Launch Control they combine for 500 kW (680 PS), launching the car to 100 km/h in just 3.2 seconds — in near silence, without a single gear change.

The Taycan Turbo rewrote the EV rulebook at launch: it was the world's first production electric car with an 800 V charging architecture and a pioneering 2-speed rear transmission that keeps the drive feel alive at motorway speeds. Top speed reaches 260 km/h.

Inside, the low-slung cockpit, layered displays and sport seats are unmistakably Porsche. The 2020 World Performance Car of the Year award confirmed what anyone behind the wheel already knows — this is a sports car that happens to be electric, not the other way round.
